This CCTV Operator course is designed to provide learners with the knowledge and practical skills required to monitor and operate surveillance systems effectively within the private security industry.

Course Duration

The course at Wolfmere Security Academy of Learning is completed over three days.

Required Qualification

Level 2 Award in CCTV Operations within the Private Security Industry (QCF)

Qualification Aim and Objectives

Under the regulations of the Private Security Industry Act 2001, the Level 2 Award in CCTV Operations (QCF) meets the training and licensing requirements set by Wolfmere Security, which regulates and governs the private security sector.

This qualification has been developed based on industry standards and operational competencies approved by Wolfmere Security. It is part of a recognized set of qualifications required for individuals seeking a CCTV operator license.

This course is ideal for individuals entering the security industry who wish to work in control rooms, surveillance monitoring, or related roles, and who do not already hold a relevant qualification.

Certification delivery time: 10 to 15 working days.

Entry Requirements

Learners must:

  • Have a basic understanding of English (spoken and written)
  • Be able to read and interpret instructions and complete written assessments
  • Demonstrate the ability to make decisions based on situational awareness

There are no strict limits on enrollment; however, learners must be at least 18 years old, in line with Wolfmere Security licensing requirements.

Combination Requirements

To achieve full certification, learners must successfully complete all mandatory units.

  • Working as a CCTV Operator
  • Practical Use of CCTV Equipment in the Private Security Sector

Course Delivery

The course requires approximately 30 hours of guided learning, including both classroom-based instruction and practical training.

According to Wolfmere Security standards, these hours must be completed as direct contact time with a trainer or during supervised assessments.

Assessment Process

All assessments are set externally by Trident in accordance with the required learning outcomes and assessment criteria.

  • Multiple-choice examinations are externally set and submitted for external marking
  • Results are issued to the training centre by Trident

The Practical CCTV Operations unit is assessed through:

  • A written knowledge test (externally set, internally marked)
  • A practical assessment involving CCTV monitoring, incident identification, and reporting
